Petworth House Textiles Fair

Petworth House
Following a short walk or ride through the beautiful Pleasure Grounds visitors will find the event taking place in three locations.
Main Courtyard
On entering the main courtyard visitors will be able to tour the pavilions where they will find collectors, makers and sellers of an extraordinarily wide range of textiles.
A colourful range of tribal textiles will be brought along by well known London collector and dealer Barbie Campbell Cole.
The Doyenne of “Chateau Chic” Elizabeth Baer will have a superior selection of toile de jouy, beautiful linens and sumptuous chateau size curtains.
Makers will flock to Linda Clift who brings with her vast amounts of wonderful, buttons, ribbons, braids and beautiful ticking ready to be converted into projects.
A firm favourite is Debbie Siniska who has re-vitalised the old craft of rag rugging into a contemporary art form. Her cushions and rugs are alive with colour and texture.
The lovely Jennie Stacey, well known Country Living exhibitor, will bring another welcome splash of colour with her buttons, beads, necklaces and corsages.
Joining them will be up to 30 stall holders each offering a unique product to take home and treasure.
Servants Quarters
The Exhibition Room in the Servants Quarters will play host to some truly inspirational speakers throughout the day.
John Gillow is one of the most respected authorities on World Textiles, not only will he be bringing along his mountains of tribal garments and fabrics but he will be lecturing on his travels and collections.
Barbara Painter is a highly entertaining speaker, with over 30 years experience in creating historical costume.
Martin Conlon (Slow Loris) has travelled all through China and specialises in the textiles of the Miow tribe.
He will also be bringing along his wonderful Indigo dyed fabrics.
The Servants Hall will house the wonderful bookseller Felicity J Warnes. I cannot believe she does not have a book any textile subject you care to name!
Meet Cathy Flowerbond – Costumier, for a practical demonstration of costume construction.
Enjoy lunch or tea in the Audit Room, specialising in good English food made from locally sourced ingredients
Main House
Wandering around the stunning state rooms of Petworth House visitors will be able to experience original and replica costume from Museum, National Trust and Private Collections.
Visit the Bedrooms to see the textiles used on the four poster beds and hung on the walls.
Meet Ian Chipperfield – The Stay Maker, with his collection of re-constructed period underpinnings. Ian will be holding short talks and a chance to see his work on live models.
