14th March Fun Design into Stitch Day Course
with Diana Sanderson
As a tutor coming from a science background, Diana is aware of how scary design can be. With this in mind she has developed delightful exercises to give confidence and enable students to produce beautiful pieces of work. Using some fun and simple techniques, paper shapes and a few pen lines, students will be able to create fascinating designs. These will be extended into fabric appliqué and free machine embroidery. If you are a beginner to free machine embroidery, a simple induction will be given. There will be an extra charge of £2 per student on the day for art materials.
19th - 21st March 3D Felt, and the Embellished Surface - Beginners Course, with Debbie Siniska
Felt is made by matting fleece fibres together using heat, moisture and friction. Over this course we will be blending and laying out coloured fleece fibres over templates to produce 3D pieces such as hats, bags and purses - and also discovering the endless possibilities for surface decoration. By trapping various threads and fancy fabrics into the fibres, a wonderful textured effect in your felt can be produced. Come and be inspired on this short course to create something unique and hand made from scratch. Materials can be provided at workshop prices approx £5 per project.
21st March How to Make Curtains, Cushions & Blinds, with Sue Hazell
On the one day workshop, students will be shown how to make a sample (or small real) curtain or roman blind with assistance, through demonstration & 'hands on'. Or you may choose to make a cushion or two for your home. You will see samples & other projects in progress, along with how to achieve those results. After the workshop you may wish to attend further one-day workshops to extend your skills. You may bring your own sewing machine so we can show you how to get the best from it or use ours.
