Rag Rug Workshop: An Adventure into Hooky Proddy, with Cilla Cameron - 23rd May

Create a rag rug using the traditional techniques of Hooking and Prodding using recycled and new materials. Design and colour plan a small door mat or larger rug, design ideas from geometrics, flowers, animals and pictorials. A selection of patterns will be available to purchase on the day. A materials list will be provided

Essentials of Hand Quilting, with Barbara Chainey - 29th May

Spend a relaxed day with one of the UK's top quilting teachers. Mark out a cushion-sized design, baste layers together and begin quilting - lots of information on markers and marking methods, basting and of course, the quilting stitch itself from start to finish. With tips galore and perhaps some old quilts to enjoy and examine this is a great class for anyone who lacks confidence in their hand quilting or who wants to get started on this absorbing traditional stitching. A materials list will be provided.


The Bayeux Tapestry: Anglo-Norman Art and History, with Sam Newton - 16th-18th July

An exploration of the magnificent embroidery known as the Bayeux Tapestry, the most important work of narrative art of the eleventh century and one of the major sources of Anglo-Norman culture. We shall attempt to unravel the great story it tells of the Norman conquest in the light of contemporary art and literature, especially the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle.


Crochet Workshop, with Kerry Forkner - 17th July

The craft of crochet is currently enjoying a revival and has become a favourite of couture designers. In it's simplest, chain-stitch form it has connections with the earliest textiles. It has a wide range of application, is easy to learn and yet can produce the most beautiful and complicated of designs, epitomized by the Irish crochet laces of the last century. During the workshop you will learn the primary stitches and techniques which will enable you to read a crochet pattern and produce one or more crocheted flowers which can be worn as brooches or a corsage.


Making a Lap Quilt or Wall Hanging, with Georgina Oldham - 23rd-25th July

A fun and challenging weekend making either a lap quilt or wall hanging. This will involve several techniques including Celtic Appliqué, Foundation Piecing, Freezer Paper Appliqué, Patchwork and Quilting. All requirements and details of the quilt/wall hanging will be provided.
