Join us the day before the Manchester Antique Textile & Vintage Fair at The Whitworth Art Gallery & Museum to view 'Sense of Growth', with curator Jennifer Harris.

Lucienne Day was an enthusiastic gardener and plant forms inspired many of her textile designs. As part of the nationwide Lucienne Day centenary celebrations, a small exhibition 'Sense of Growth' is about the inspiration for her design. Organised by the gallery’s GROW team (a group using the collections and the gardens to improve mental health).

You will also be able to see the gallery exhibition 'Revolutionary Textiles 1910-1939', a period when textile design took off in new directions throughout the Western world.

We will then meet afterwards, when Lesley Millar will be around to answer any questions. After a drink we will see examples of Russian Textiles from the V&A collection.
