In 1885 William Morris handed over the management of the embroidery workshop to his youngest daughter May, who at 23 was already an accomplished practitioner.

Archivist Gavin Henderson will talk on the history of the firm. Many of the 30,000 designs were inherited in 1965, when JL bought the company, who produced designs for Heal's, Liberty and Warner's. The earliest artwork dates back to 1795.
