SUMMARY:The Great Tapestry of Scotland
DESCRIPTION:Discover 420 million years of Scotland’s History\, Heritage\, Innovations and Culture with the Great Tapestry of Scotland. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Great Tapestry of Scotland’s main gallery exhibits 160 panels depicting time from the prehistoric and the creation of Scotland’s distinct landscape to the reopening of the Scottish Parliament. \nScotland’s past comes vividly to life through the Tapestry’s stories of its people and landscapes. The panels dramatically tell tales of work and play\, politics and religion\, war and peace\, sport and transport\, tradition and innovation. Everything that is part of Scottish culture is symbolised\, with the people of Scotland taking centre stage. Their stories unfold over thousands of years\, from prehistory to the present day. \nExplore history\, listen to stitchers’ stories and discover the hidden details on the panels of The Great Tapestry of Scotland using the app or the interactive screens in the main gallery on the first floor. \n\n\n\nEvent Details

SUMMARY:Fibreshed
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition is an introduction to South West England Fibreshed.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo harness our local resources to produce anything as sophisticated as a garment of clothing involves many processes\, and a network of farmers\, growers\, mills\, manufacturers\, and designers as well as advocates\, activists\, and bloody-minded facilitators who are determined to create a new paradigm for fashion. \nFibershed is a movement. Its goal: the development of systems from ‘soil to soil;’ where textiles are grown\, processed\, designed\, sewn\, sold\, worn\, and eventually composted. These processes offer a means of connecting the fashion industry with community\, with society and with the environment so that they can all thrive. \nStarted in the USA\, the Fibershed movement uses the American spelling ‘fiber’. UK affiliate communities follow the British spelling ‘fibre’. \n\n\n\nEvent Details
