Manchester Antique & Vintage Textile Fair 2019

Sun 14th April 2019
10.00 am - 4.30 pm

The Armitage Centre,
Moseley Road,
Fallowfield M14 6HE

Dr. Brenda King, Chair of the Textile Society says, ‘On a single day in April, Manchester becomes the centre of activity in textiles. Whether collecting, creating or just revelling in the richness of textiles, it is the meeting place for everyone delighted by the diversity of textiles’.

Join us on Sunday 14th April to celebrate a heritage of textiles and design at our Manchester Antique and Vintage Textile Fair. With over 70 dealers joining us, the Fair is internationally recognised, attracting trade and public from around the world. It was the first antique fair to specialise entirely in historic textiles, and it has remained a key event in the textiles calendar for an astonishing twenty-seven years. The Antique and Vintage Textile Fair is the hub for all passionate collectors of textiles. From world textiles to mid-century modern, from Art Deco to vintage fashion, the fair is an exciting and abundant source for objects and ideas, wall art or wearables, the beautiful or the kitsch. Whether you are a student seeking that original design inspiration, a collector of the unique, or passionate about preserving the past, recycling and upcycling for the future, this is a fair you cannot miss.

On the upper floor, you will meet members of Guilds, Museums and Archives who will demonstrate how they are preserving and conserving traditional techniques for new generations of designers and makers.
The Textile Society’s Antique and Vintage Textile Fair is not only about the past – it points directly to the future. The funds raised from the fair each year enable the Textile Society to showcase the work of new creatives shortlisted for the society’s generous student bursaries. The competition attracts applications from every corner of the UK, and awards prizes of up to £1000 to six selected BA and MA students who go on to become the future makers and designers of textiles. Watch this space for further news of the 2019 Bursary Awards, or follow the link on our Bursaries page.
