Student Bursaries 2020

Results

As the Coronavirus has changed life as we knew it a few months ago, so the Textile Society Student Bursaries had to change accordingly

The deadline for the Student Bursaries this year was 14 February and we had four judges ready to take on the important task of selecting six or so finalists who would showcase their work at the Manchester Antique Fair on 29 March. The judging took place over the internet and seven students were selected to go through to the final.

However, as everyone is aware the Coronavirus hit Britain and all large events were cancelled at the end of March. Everyone connected to the organisation of the Student Bursaries and the Fair in the Textile Society was devastated, as it is the Fair that provides the funding for our Awards. We could not expect our student finalists or judges to travel anywhere at this time either, so it was decided to share out the funding equally. All finalists received £500 and became Textile Society Award winners.
